LASHAWN MERRITT
In 2013 LaShawn Merritt restaked his claim to the top spot in the World at 400 meters. The 2008 Olympic 400m Champion ran a new personal best time of 43.74 to win his second World title in the event at the 14th IAAF World Championships. LaShawn initially made his mark as a high school athlete where he became the second-fastest indoor 400 meters runner in history at the age of 18 in 2004. He went on to earn his first of four U.S. 400 titles in 2008 and then claimed double Gold medals in the 400m and 4×4 relay at the 2008 Olympics.
